Mary the sister of Harun !!

Assalamo Alaykum,

There was an objection to Mary being the sister of Haroon during the time of Rasool Allah ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) and there is a Hadeeth on it:


We read in Saheeh Muslim,

‏ ‏ ‏حدثنا ‏ ‏أبو سعيد الأشج ‏ ‏ومحمد بن المثنى ‏ ‏قالا حدثنا ‏ ‏ابن إدريس ‏ ‏عن ‏ ‏أبيه ‏ ‏عن ‏ ‏سماك بن حرب ‏ ‏عن ‏ ‏علقمة بن وائل ‏ ‏عن ‏ ‏المغيرة بن شعبة ‏ ‏قال ‏
‏بعثني رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏إلى ‏ ‏نجران ‏ ‏فقالوا لي ألستم تقرءون يا أخت ‏ ‏هارون ‏ ‏وقد كان بين ‏ ‏عيسى ‏ ‏وموسى ‏ ‏ما كان فلم أدر ما أجيبهم فرجعت إلى رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏فأخبرته فقال ‏ ‏ألا أخبرتهم أنهم كانوا يسمون بأنبيائهم والصالحين قبلهم ‏
‏قال ‏ ‏أبو عيسى ‏ ‏هذا ‏ ‏حديث حسن صحيح غريب ‏ ‏لا نعرفه إلا من حديث ‏ ‏ابن إدريس ‏




Saheeh Muslim

Book 025, Number 5326:
Mughira b. Shu'ba reported: When I came to Najran, they (the Christians of Najran) asked me: You read" O sister of Harun" (i. e. Hadrat Maryam) in the Qur'an, whereas Moses was born much before Jesus. When I came back to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) I asked him about that, whereupon he said: The (people of the old age) used to give names (to their persons) after the names of Apostles and pious persons who had gone before them.
