Please help me. I'm debating with moslems.

Hello

I firmly believe that we can refer to any name of Allah (i do not put a bound to how many of these names are), without the AL

The AL is used to make any noun, known, using the noun without the AL makes the noun unknown, but that is only if the noun is used on its own without any other context in the sentence, in many sentences we may have a context that defines the noun and consequently we may use the noun without the AL and in such case it will be known because the context of the sentence defined it, the first example I would like to show you goes like this:

The word رحيم, Rahim, i.e. Merciful, does not have the AL, and because it comes on its own without a sentence, then it must be UNKNOWN, gramaticaly speaking, i.e. we can not know who is that merciful

If we put the AL in front of the above word, i.e. الرحيم, Al-Rahim, i.e. The Merciful, the word is KNOWN, gramatically speaking of course

The traditionalists who claim that Allah has 99 names and each must start with the AL are refuted big times by the Quran, and this is the second example I would like to show you, in this example, we will see some names of Allah while they do not have the AL in front, yet we know that they are names to Allah because they were used in sentences where the context defined Him as the noun the verses are talking about:

Example # 1:

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاء مَرْضَاتِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ (207)
And among the people is he who sells himself to seek the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is Kind to the servants.
[Al Quran ; 2:207]

-> Al-Rauf is a name of Allah, but as you can see above, the word رَؤُوفٌ , Rauf, i.e. Kind comes without the AL, yet we know that it is referring to Allah because of the context وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ, Wa Allah Rauf Bi Alibad, i.e. and Allah is Kind to the servants.

Example # 2 has two sub-examples of another two names of Allah:

فَإِن زَلَلْتُمْ مِّن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءتْكُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ (209)
But if you slip after the signs have come to you, then know that Allah is Mighty, Wise.
[Al Quran ; 2:209]

-> Al-Aziz and Al-Hakim are two other names of Allah, but as you can see above, both appeared without the AL: عَزِيزٌ & حَكِيمٌ , Aziz & Hakim, i.e. Mighty & Wise, yet we know that both are referring to Allah because of the context أَنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ, In Allah Aziz Hakim, i.e. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Bro but the reason WHY the word "Al" wasn't placed before the word "Raouf" is because this word is in the middle of the sentence, and Allah's name was already mentioned earlier in the sentence, so it is obvious who is being refered to when Allah mentioned the word "Raouf" without saying the "Al"

However, I believe that if the word "Raouf" was stated singularly and by itself, then it's necessary to add the "Al" in front of it, as this is describing an attribute of Allah.

Salam brother

Thanks for the feedback, however it does not solve the second example, where Aziz and Hakim are not in the middle of a sentence

Also what you are suggesting does not exist in the Arabic grammar, what does exist is simply the Al will be controlled by many gramatical rules and in some situations the Al must not exist, and this is the point I'm trying to make all along, that the Al may not be required if we are referring to Allah, and I have seen 3 examples so far (I have hundreds) that clearly show that Allah is referring to Himself using His names without the Al

I think Raoof, Azeez and Hakeem have been used in these verses as adjectives.

Thanks, buddy. Glad to see you are doing well.

Currently, the forum page (http://free-islam.com/modules.php?name=Forums) displays only the name of the most recent poster for each section; would it be possible to also display the title of the thread in which the most recent post has been made?

Great, buddy; maybe you could likewise display the sections corresponding to the topics on the main page (http://free-islam.com/index.php).

Hey mate

I looked at the modification you requestted, and I am sorry to tell you that they are very hard for me, I am actually not a PHP programmer I just use my VB experience to get myself aroiund it in some tasks that up to mediium in difficulty, but you requested is very hard after looking at the associated pages and trying to understand it to see where exactly I can nsert the new line of PHP codes

That page where it lists the forums is already modified to remove a top section which used to show most recent topics (as you requested) and many other stats with url links, but I removed it because it was consuming most of the screen before it starts to list the forums, and even when I removed it it took me about a week to understand how it can be done, I think if I put it on a temp site for you to see if it will be good to have then I may go through the pain again to activate it on the live site,

I am thinking to show it to you on fresh installation of bonusnuke on another folder while keeing the live one intact until a decision is taken

I will let you know

Cheers

That's okay, buddy. It is also important to consider whether a change is really worth it.
