Post subject: what makes u "believe" Reply with quote

why do u believe in that which u do believe? for example, what tells the muslims that "god" revealed a scripture to muhammad? is it untrue that at the back of every belief there is that li'l something called as "faith"?

let me address the muslims...if u were to object to, say, christianity, what would ur objections be? u may make use of the objections found in the quran, but u may not appeal to its authority!

i think that in some ways every belief-system (and i include non-belief) tends to be "unreasonable"...u can only provide proofs for so much...after a certain limit "faith", or lack of it, comes into play! how about u peepz?

I agree with you bro, to believe is 100% dependant of faith however there must be a part that is common sense

I chose to believe because I fear what is ahead after death, only Islam through its Quran made sense to me, the most sensible part that it unites all humans, all prophets and all things under One God

Salam

this was the reason, albeit partial, behind starting this thread:

# i had asked some muslims about the sufferings of the muslims, and their response was that it was a temporary unease which would be replaced with permanent ease!

i next asked them about the success of the non-muslims, and they said it was a brief enjoyment before an eternal damnation!

## i had also asked some non-muslims (mostly christians) about the sufferings of the muslims, and they believe that they (muslims) need christ in their lives!

# both see trials and sufferings as an indication that one needs to get closer to god...muslims see their suffering as a trial from allah and an opportunity to get closer to it, and the christians see it as an opportunity for them to let jesus into their lives!

relevant thread:

i had a hunch that i was going to see a muslim change his faith, and this was the remaining reason i was curious to know what peepz out here feel about faith!

^ For me to believe in Islam as a religion was initially had to be rationality and then faith. But now its faith completely.

The most important factor in Islam is Monotheism of God which is unambiguous compared to other religions. Because i was on the quest of God or man made religions. If there is one God then why so many religions after all Allaah created everyone of us,then why so many religions.

Then, i had to search for the right religion to follow, though born as a muslim I always questioned myself why shud i believe in Islam and is it the right religion.
I came across science in Quran which was my first step towards Islam, and contradicition in other books which prompted me to search for Islam again.

With respect to science i agreed that there is a God and surely is the creator. But now, I read the Quran and understood the power in Quran, being a muslim i agree, i was biased.

But then if Quran is from God, what about Prophet Mohammed is he the right prophet and did God really send Prophet Mohammed as the real prophet.
Then i had to study about the Prophet and was astounded with some facts regarding this great man and concluded finally he is the final prophet.

This were my religious journey started and my faith in Islam increased and Allaah guided me as I was in the thin line between atheism and theism. Praise be to God, who guided me towards Islam and changed my life.

Today i might not be a perfect muslim, still signs of hypocrisy in are entrenced in me but i do believe Islam is the perfect religion only keeping Quran as the benchmark because Quran remains to be the eternal miracle of the Prophet.

I dont have to 1400 years to know about the Prophet and its miracles unlike Christians to believe that Jesus died on the cross and Moses split the sea.

^Yes there are some verses which i do find irrationality, when i dont understand those verses. Remember again Quran is for the men of understanding. It is because of my intellectual capacity compared to God, that some verses affect me.

When this happens, i search like mad to get an answer and finally get it. Because i start with an assumption i did not understand the quranic verse rather think other way round that Quran is stating wrong.

But i agree, satan play a major role and believe me according to me satan is the most experienced being on the face of earth and working really hard. Just imagine satan is working hard since the time of Adam so that experience is a lot. Mr. Green

# cool...is/are there any verse/s which u find irrational at the moment? if so, could u share them with us? (-:

## ...u make a very interesting comment, that u start with the assumption that ur understanding of the verse, and not the verse itself, is at fault; should v put this down to faith? or did i get u wrong and u mean something else? (-:

# okay, bud....a straight q...what is the 1 thing that drives ur faith? is it the fear of what lies beyond death? or that islam alone, thru quran, makes sense to u? or something else?

..ofcourse, u can opt not to attempt tryin to find the single most compellin reasons....in fact, it maybe that such an attempt in itself would be futile...still, i just wanna hear ur take on it! (-:

Salam bro

Good to see you back on FI

there is a lot of things that drive my faith, most importantly the fear of Allah, this fear is not coming from nothing, it is due to my total belief that Allah exists, what made me believe that He exists, is the Quran and its content, it all makes sense to me, in fact many things that I thought about it on my own have been confirmed in the Quran exactly as I thought about it before reading the Quran, there is also other signs outside the Quran that are related to my life experience so far that have no logical cause other than Allah exists 100%,

I really said it the way I feel it, most imporantly it is due to the Quran, for me my life without the Quran or all the other human lives for that matter makes no sense without the message delivered with the Quran.

Take care man

Lemme answer this too.

Its my life experience that tells me there must be a creator. And this estabishes my faith towards the creator. Uptil now I havent read anybook like quran, quranic text makes me believe, the book is from creator who we call God. Now when I read the book there comes fear. The fear of wrong doings!

Feel sharing this with u people. I went on a walk today, crossed one camping van and heard a woman screaming at full pitch, I saw the woman facing a wall and waving one hand after another. Just thought calling cops but then I saw 2 gypsy kids playing around. I asked them whats happening to tht lady, they smilingly answered and left but I was surprised.

Can you guess folks, what that lady was doing ?

# so what about all the lives spent before the revelation of the quran, and those to whom the quran never reached in its entirety? should they be considered disadvantaged?
