I was looking for a Quran software , where i can write comments or notes for each ayat , right below the arabic verse.
Do you know any software , which works for that purpose?. I have searched a lot on net and I have found a similar software which fits to my purpose, but its a paid software not free. This software is called "Al-Mudarris".
http://www.dar-us-salam.com/store/main.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MS15
If you find any free software which serves this purpose , the please let me know.
Regards,
MAK

Hello Q&S
Good to see you back
No mate, I know of none, however I can provide you with a MySQL table with all the verses in there English and Arabic, not my tranlsation , and based on that you may create your own program using dotnet or so, i say paying 30 bucks for the software in that link you posted will not be a waste of money at all
However I beleive any quran software should be free, the Quran cannot be used to generate any source of income or even recovering any cost, I say the cost should be donated in the way of Allah

Thanks for your reply , its good idea to use the database and make a simple application. I thought there would be some application already made by some one.
What are the translators you have in MySQL table , and is it possible to convert that to a Ms Access Database?
Let me know , if you can get in Ms Access format , or else send MySQL table, i would make use of it.
I dont know , why there isn't many softwares , which allows to write notes for each ayats. I believe if this kind of software is available for free, It will be very useful and popular.

MAK

Hey mate
I am not sure what is the translator but the charset is latin1
if you look at the raw data in the table, it does not look arabic at all, so I am not sure how access will read that
if you can help find an answer to that then I may create the program myself and distribute it for free

Good morning mate
I was shocked when I opened the Table, this is exactly what I wanted my friend, now, it is about time to create an awesome Quran program using MS Access and VBA
How about you be part of it by providing ideas and wish list that you like or hope to be there?
I know one already which is the ability to add your own text to each verse and be linked to it, which is so easy to do, I need heaps of ideas man, MS Access programming is piece of piss for me, TRUST ME
Note, there was no English translation, just the Arabic text in the Access table, however that is exactly what I wanted.

Sorry Q&S
I found Y A translation and also the notes, further down the table, which is totally wrong, it must be in another table that is related or at least in the same table but different fields
Leave it to me, I will also include all the avaible translations so users can compare the trnalsation of any verse at once

Thanks Ahmed,
Yes I want to be part of making this.
The main feature which will make good tool are the following.
1. Selection of Translators ( I might like to view only particular translator )
2. option for writing notes on each ayat\.
3. Put tags on each ayat ( I might like to collect all the JudgmentDay ayats in "Judgment" Tag.
4. Filter by Tags (I want to see only those ayats with XYZ Tag name.
5. Search option in Translation + Notes + Tags.
6. Exporting and importing Tags and Notes to a file.
For me these features makes an extra ordinary tool. Some of the features may be complex to create. But as you are the champ, you could do that.
I am a good tester, so i would test and comment on each and every version you make. I have a good knowledge of database , but not an expert.
Let me know, if I can help you importing all the translators.
Regards,
MAK

Hi Ahmed,
I have attached Shakir translation and also English transliteration. Please take a look at it.
I meant tags as bookmarks not html tags.

Salam Q$S
Thanks mate, that web site posts a lot of other translations and langugaes for export, which will be very helpful to add later on to Access Quran, this is the name I have given to my application, I believe I finished what is needed for the first beta version 1.00 which took me about 30 hours or so. I am very delighted with the result, it looks very impressive, see, applications programming is like a computer game, either it will fail or it will be a blockbuster, and I believe what I did so far is a blockbuster with the help of Allah, I will explain the program in great details with screen shots when I have a bit of time, but for now you may have a look and prepare a list of feedback, the file is AccessQuran.MDE and has two levels of security:
1- the file is compiled into MDE format, not MDB
2- the <Shift> bypass button is disabled
However anyone who likes to study the written code, may ask me for the copy of the design file (MDB) as well the password to enable the <Shift> button bypass key
I have done what you asked for with the excpetion of searching the notes, I yet to add free islam translation but will do in later versions inshallah
Please let me know what do you think, I can see a great potential to this program
Again, I will explain it in great details later on inshallah
Acces 2002 was used to develop it, so you need this version as a min requirement, I may add other versions later on inshaallah
