Post subject: Happy Ramadan
Salam All
Ramadan is about to start in a few hours in Sydney, I would like to take the opportunity and wish everyone (Muslim or not) a happy and joyful month.
The best thing I like about Ramadan is how it makes you get closer to Allah, this is enough to balance the torture of not being able to eat nor drink for about 16 hours a day while eveyone around you is eating/smoking/drinking (in western countries of course)
A lot of people wonder, why fasting?, it just does not make sense for them and for many Muslims as well, well, there is really a simple answer:
Believers fast because Allah ordered them to do so and Allah can't be questioned regarding what He does or choose, remember the story of Ibrahim and his son Ismael, Ibrahim was ordred by Allah to slay his son, for an honoured man like Ibrahim he had no choice but to obey Allah orders without questioning Him, same with Ismael who was another honoured man, again he had no choice but to submit to what Allah ordered his father to do even if it means killing him, this is ISLAM
Again we fast because Allah ordered us to do so in the Quran

Let me try the Arabic way
Kul wa antom bikhair. (Many happy returns).
Same with you brother and all other FI's Ramadan Kareem. I agree with brother AB we get closer to Allaah as much as possible but after the month is over I get a thought that i still missed a lots of things and could still pray to Allaah more and more and I missed out on these.
